Business Model Development

Developing a business model for your organization or program need not be a lengthy or perfectionistic endeavor. We support clients to assess and design their nonprofit organization’s optimal business model using a flexible and iterative Business Model Canvas. The Business Model Canvas is a lean-startup tool, that we have adapted for the nonprofit sector, that helps guide an organization or program to describe, design, challenge, invent, and pivot its business model. 

Using the Business Model Canvas, your organization’s or your program’s business model is visually articulated on a canvas that depicts basic organizational components, or building blocks, that show the logic of how the organization or program will make sustainable impact. The business model serves as a blueprint for a strategy to be implemented through organizational structures, processes, and systems. The business model building blocks are visually represented on a one page canvas. The building blocks include intended impact, customer segments, value proposition, channels, revenue streams, and partners.
